Privacy Policy
Terms used in this document are defined as follows:
- 1.“beep™” is the brand name of the beep™ Application and is identified by the beep™ Logo.
- 2.“beep™ Application” means the stored value payment application owned and developed by us that allows consumers to make payments at Transport establishments and beep™ Merchants using beep™ Cards. We are the issuer of and shall be responsible for the beep™ Application.
- 3.“beep™Card” means a contactless smart card or any other form factor that contains the beep™ Application and may be issued as a Standard, Co-Branded Advertising, or a Co-Branded Multifunction Card.4.“beep™ Holder” is a holder of a beep™ Card.
- 1.“Standard beep™ Card” is a smart card or other form factor that contains only the beep™ Application. It is issued by us and distributed through our authorized distribution partners.
- 2.“Co-Branded Advertising beep™ Card” is similar to a Standard beep™ Card but also features the logo of a Co-Brander for advertising purposes.
- 3.“Co-Branded Multifunction beep™ Card” is a smart card or other form factor that contains the beep™ Application and one or more other applications for payment and/or non-payment products which are owned by and for which the Co-Brander of Multifunction beep™ Card shall be responsible.
- 5.beep™ Logo means the following trademark or logo
or variations thereof which we may hereafter adopt. - 6.“beep™ Merchant” means a merchant, retailer, establishment, or Transport Establishment authorized by us to accept beep™ Card as a form of payment for goods, services or fare.
- 7.“Co-Brander” means an entity or establishment with which we have a contract or arrangement for issuance of a Co-Branded Advertising beep™ Card or a Co-Branded Multifunction beep™ Card.
- 8.“Concessionary beep™ Card” means a beep™ Card that has been registered for use by a Concessionary Person.
- 9.“Concessionary Person” means a person who is eligible under Philippine law to avail of discounted fares in Transport Establishments (such as senior citizens and persons with disabilities or PWDs)
- 10.“Personal Data” refers to any information whether recorded in a material form or not, from which the identity of an individual is apparent or can be reasonably and directly ascertained by the entity holding the information, or when put together with other information would directly and certainly identify an individual.
- 11.“Transpo™ Logo” means the following trademark or logo
or variations thereof, which the Department of Transportation and Communications (“DOTC”) may hereafter adopt. - 12.“Transport Establishment” is a transport service or establishment required by the DOTC to use the automatic fare collection system. Currently, these Transport Establishments are Light Rail Transit 1, Light Rail Transit 2 and Metro Rail Transit 3. Transport Establishments are identified by and display the Transpo™ Logo.
Privacy Statement
The privacy practices described in this Statement are primarily intended for individuals residing in or are based in
the Philippines and are designed to comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (otherwise known as Republic Act
10173) and its implementing rules and regulations. This Privacy Policy governs your use of the beep™ Application
and beep™ card created and issued by AF Payments Inc. (AFPI).
Collection, Use and Processing of Personal Data
- Each beep™ Card, upon purchase, is unregistered. Our registration process for the Standard beep™ is not yet
available. However, if you are a Concessionary Person, you may avail of a Concessionary beep™ card- For the issuance of a Concessionary beep™ Card, some personal data will be collected from you, which
includes but is not limited to: your name, date of birth, contact details, and proof of eligibility for the
Concessionary beep™ Card (e.g., Senior Citizen’s ID Persons with Disability or PWD ID) - In case of an unregistered beep™ Card, the data to be collected is limited to non-Personal Data, which
does not identify you individually. Examples on non-Personal Data include but are not limited to statistical
and analytical data, and anonymous and/or aggregate reports.
- For the issuance of a Concessionary beep™ Card, some personal data will be collected from you, which
- Your Personal Data can be used as follows:
- Performing our functions as beep™ Application issuer and complying with our obligations to you such as blocking of your lost or stolen beep™Application or beep™ Card;
- Improving the management, operation and maintenance of our system, including audit purposes.
Use of Personal Data for purposes other than stated above shall be subject to your express consent.
Sharing of Personal Data
- AFPI may, from time to time, enter into contracts with third parties, such as but not limited to, Transport
Establishments, vendors, service providers, partners and/or other agents; engage with their service; interacts and/or
share your personal data to fulfill any of the purpose identified in this beep™ Data Privacy Policy. Such third party
may have access to beep™ Cardholders Personal Data for a limited time under reasonable technical safeguards and
provided that the third party signed a data sharing agreement with AFPI as defined in the DPA. AFPI may also share
information in accordance with any order from any relevant government agency as provided by law.
Storage and Protection of beep™ Cardholder Personal Data
We are committed to (i) protecting and safeguarding the privacy of beep™ card and beep™ Application users
Personal Data and confidentiality of your information; (ii) preventing any loss, theft, or use of Personal Data for
unauthorized purposes; and (iii) protecting Personal Data against any unauthorized or accidental access, processing
or removal.
AFPI has instituted policies and procedures that include securing any document containing personal data, and
requiring the execution of non-disclosure agreements by its employees, consultants, vendors, suppliers and/or
contractors, among others. We take measures to protect beep™ Holder’s Personal Data.
We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information that we process and maintain.
AFPI’s network and processes are scanned on a regular basis for any potential security breaches or loopholes and
known vulnerabilities, and we conduct regular review and audit in order to make your use of the beep™ card as safe
as possible. Your personal data is contained within secured networks and is only accessible to authorized employees
and contractors in order to keep such data confidential. However, as the security of ordinary e-mail cannot be
guaranteed, you should not send us any e-mail containing any Personal Data.
AFPI disposes digital and physical copy that contain Personal Information or Data in a secure manner that would
prevent such information from further processing, unauthorized access, or disclosure to any other party or the
public, or prejudices the interests of the owner(s) of such information.
Please be aware that, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information that we process and
maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches. AFPI believes that the foregoing safeguards
are sufficient to prevent the occurrence of such risks and is committed to updating and improving such safeguards,
if necessary, in order to protect your Personal Data in compliance with the Data Privacy Act.
Your rights under the Privacy Policy Act
As a data subject, you have the following rights under the Data Privacy Act:
a. You have the right to be informed of the collection and processing of your personal data, the purpose for which
they will be processed, among others. Thus, you are required to read this privacy policy before giving your consent
to the collection and processing of your personal data. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask us
questions or clarifications by contacting us thru our contact information on our website or and you may also contact
our Data Protection Officer;
b. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. You will be given an option or opportunity to
withhold your consent to the processing of your personal data whenever AFPI communicates with you or by notifying
our Data Protection Officer;
c. You have the right to have reasonable access to your personal data by contacting us thru our contact information
on our website or by notifying our Data Protection Officer;
d. You have the right to rectify or correct any inaccuracy or error in your personal data by contacting us thru our
contact information on our website or by submitting your request for rectification or correction to our Data
Protection Officer;
e. You have the right to suspend, withdraw or order the blocking, removal or destruction of your personal data in
accordance with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act. Please notify our Data Protection Officer if you wish to
exercise this right;
f. You have the right to obtain a copy of your data in an electronic or structured format if the same is processed by
electronic means and in a structured and commonly used format by submitting your request to our Data Protection
Officer; and
g. You have the right to be indemnified if you incur damages due to inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false,
unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of your personal data.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
At its sole discretion, AFPI may modify or amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to keep up with any changes
in relevant laws, policies and regulations applicable to us or how we collect, use, protect, store, share, or dispose of
your Personal Information. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy here. You are
advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all
subsequent changes made thereto. You may refer to the above last update date of this policy.

beep™ mobile app Privacy Policy

Privacy Statement
The privacy practices described in this Statement are primarily intended for individuals who owns a beep™ card and/or to make use of an app that is commuter centric and are designed to comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (R.A. 10173) and its implementing rules and regulations. This privacy policy governs your use of the beep™ card and the beep™ mobile Application for mobile devices created by AF Payments Inc. (AFPI).
Collection, Use and Processing of Personal Data
The beep™ mobile Application helps you manage and review your beep™ cards as well as participate in AFPI’s rewards programs. Here you may enroll your beep™ card to view account balance, view beep™ card transaction history, load your beep card, access the AFPI rewards program and enables you to generate an AFPI’s standard of QR Ticket that you can use at any Transport Operator accepting AFPI QR Ticket.
AFPI rewards program enables you to generate an AFPI’s standard of QR Ticket that you can use at any Transport Operator accepting AFPI QR ticket and/or convert points into a beep load.
The beep™ mobile Application obtains the information you provide when you download and register. Registration with us is mandatory in order to be able for you to use the premium features of the beep™ mobile Application.
You generally provide:
- Identification (Know-Your-Customer) Information: Your full name, mobile number, email address, birth details, gender, citizenship or nationality, home address, government-issued ID numbers, your photo and signature.
The beep™ mobile Application may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the information about your transaction and dealing and the way you use the beep™ mobile Application. This information maybe your device information such as type of device, device
identification number, time-zone and IP address, biometric login information that are stored on your device to access your beep™ mobile Application account, and geolocation to improve our services, for fraud and detection, and for marketing purposes.
- Information you provide when you contact AFPI: When you contact us by chat, phone, or email, we record our conversation and collect details about you and your concerns.
We may use the information to:
- Know who you are; thus, we need to confirm your identity thru our Know-Your-Customer or KYC process. We need to keep track of transactions and report any suspicious activities as required by law;
- Manage your account, provide customer care activities, monitor the quality and security of the network and provide services timely and efficiently and ensure your fair and lawful use of the features and services provided by AFPI;
- Contact and provide you with important information, required notices, send commercial and promotional advertisement, loyalty and rewards offer, surveys and other broadcast push messages;
- Share relevant personal data to third parties, such as but not limited to content providers, third party providing service as part of AFPI beep™ Reward Program;
- Conduct analysis for research and marketing initiatives, including the generation of anonymized or non-personally identifiable location and mobility to show footfall, location patterns, crowd density, and other information that may be relevant for marketing purposes;
- Implement measures to manage risk and prevent potential fraud and crime; and
- Perform such other processing or disclosure that may be required under law or regulations.
Your Consent
By using the beep™ mobile Application, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
a. Have freely, knowingly and voluntarily given consent for AFPI and its representative to process Personal Data or any other information and relative to the use of the beep™ mobile app. At all times, your personal data shall not be used or processed for any purpose that is contrary to law, morals, or public policy.
b. Consent shall be valid as long as there is at least one card enrolled in the beep™ mobile Application and/or as long as there are still redeemable reward points from any of the cards enrolled from the date such consent was given or such longer period as may be required by applicable law or when necessary, as provided by the Data Privacy Act, or unless you have expressly withdrawn such consent of continued use of any features or functions of the beep™ mobile Application.
“Processing,” means using cookies on a computer/hand held device or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information. Processing includes both manual and automated handling of Personal Data, storage, and data transfers using various means.
Sharing of Personal Data
We may, from time to time, enter into contracts with third parties, engage with their service, and interact and/or share your personal data for the purpose of enabling them to provide you with personalized services such as, but not limited to, providing reward benefits for your enrolled cards in AFPI’s rewards programs
and/or providing limited personal accident coverage. By subscribing to the beep™ mobile Application and the rewards program associated to it, you agree to give consent to AFPI to share your personal information including about your card usage (time, acceptor, amount, nature of transaction) with the third party, provided that the third party signs a data sharing agreement with AFPI as defined in the Data Privacy Act. We may also share information in accordance with any order from any relevant government agency as provided by law.
