October 15, 2025 – The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) community hosted the “Concessionary beep™ Card Caravan” at its Mabini campus today, which facilitated the on-the-spot card issuance to eligible students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) granting fifty percent (50%) discount on train fares.

This initiative is spearheaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in cooperation with the Office of the PUP President and AF Payments Inc., the issuer of beep™ cards, offering seamless, convenient and affordable way to pay for public transport while promoting inclusive mobility.
The experiences of student applicants have been generally positive, noting the convenience and accessibility that the Caravan project brings to students who may not have the time to line up to the stations, “Accessible po (for) students like me, kase di po ako nakakuha ng beep™ card sa mga station kase nacacut off po… pumunta na po sila dito…” shared John Ortiz, who is taking up Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (ABELS) upon receiving his student discount beep™ card today.

When asked about the manner of service in which the Caravan project has provided, the students have also provided generally positive feedback. Lana Legaspi, a junior Computer Engineering student, appreciates the quick processing time. “(It’s) fast processing and well-organized,” she says.

The caravan in PUP Mabini campus will continue to run until Friday, October 17.
Meanwhile, the Concessionary beep™ Card applications are still being accepted at all stations at LRT 1, LRT 2 and MRT 3 from Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM, and on weekends from 7AM to 7PM.
