August 13, 2025 — AF Payments Inc. (AFPI), the issuer of beep™ cards, has expressed its full support for the Department of Transportaion’s (DOTr) efforts to stabilize the supply of beep™ cards and faster issuance of beep™ concessionary discount cards to seniors, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and students across all LRT and MRT rail lines.
The announcement was made today by AFPI President and CEO Jojo Carpio, who joined DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon and Light Rail Transit Administration (LRTA) Administrator Hernando Cabrera during a joint site inspection at LRT 2 Antipolo station, highlighting the public-private sector cooperation to improve and enhance rail transport services.

As demand for beep™ cards continues to rise—particularly among students who are the most frequent users of Metro Manila’s rail lines (LRT Lines 1 and 2 and MRT-3), DOTr has announced the launch of concessionary beep™ cards for students so they can avail of the fifty percent (50%) discount beginning September 2025 to coincide with the start of the school year.
Concessionary Cards for Senior Citizens and PWD commuters will remain available, ensuring inclusive access to discounted fares for train rides.
Meanwhile, in response to Secretary Dizon’s directive to increase beep™ card supply on all rail stations, AFPI has accelerated the delivery of 300,000 additional beep™ card orders of its train operator partners. This underscores AFPI’s continuing commitment to provide ease and convenience to Filipino commuters.
AF Payments Inc. is a consortium formed by the Ayala and First Pacific group of companies, which was awarded the 10-year concession to build the Automate Fare Collection System (AFCS) in Metro Manila’s light rail network in 2014. Since then, AFPI has issued more than 11 million beep™ cards, a contactless stored value fare media which expanded its acceptance beyond rail transport—offering seamless, user friendly, cost-efficient, and customer-oriented fare collection and related solutions and services.
