“Pasko sa Intramuros” by RANCHO ARCILLA
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rancho Arcilla (b. John Paul Escandor Arcilla) is an artist and cultural worker specializing in colonial architecture. He is the author of the Intramuros Register of Styles (2021), a fundamental component of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Presidential Decree No. 1616, which governs architectural development within Intramuros. He served as Chairperson of the Intramuros Technical Committee on Architectural Standards from 2022 to 2024 and as the first Archivist of the Intramuros Administration from 2019 to 2024. As head of architectural standards, Rancho oversaw the review of all private and government construction and development projects within Intramuros, including the issuance of recommendations for the approval of development clearances and building permits. He currently teaches history at the University of Santo Tomas. As an artist, his works have been featured in legal tender, stamps, books, official government releases, and other major publications.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
“Pasko sa Intramuros” is an explosion of detail. This cartoon depicts the spirit of Christmas in pre-war Intramuros, when the historic walled city was still a vibrant residential community. Glowing parols, festive homes, street vendors, families, clergy, and passersby animate the streets, evoking a season of faith, fellowship, tradition, and celebration beneath the city’s historic built heritage.

“Still, December” by RICA BARACEROS
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rica Baraceros is a 4th-year Marketing student from National University with interests across various areas of marketing and creative work. Her experience includes academic and professional projects involving marketing, content creation, events, and design. She also gained industry experience through her internship at AF Payments Inc., also known as beep™, where she worked on various marketing-related projects. Through her work, she brings together her marketing background and creative perspective to develop ideas that engage and connect with audiences.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
Certain Christmases carry a distinct feeling that lingers in memory long after they have passed. Even when the details of a moment fade with time, the emotions attached to it can remain, turning the feeling of a past Christmas into something that continues to stay. The 2016 holiday season in the Philippines serves as a point of observation for the “Still, December” design, exploring nostalgia through a softened, vintage-inspired visual treatment. It reflects a sense of nostalgia for a Christmas that may belong to an unfamiliar past, yet still feels strangely familiar. Muted tones, aged textures, and retro styling create an atmosphere reminiscent of a remembered or imagined holiday, connecting the visual character of the past with its lasting emotional feeling.

“Simbang Gabi” by GAVIN GARCERA
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Joseph Gavin Garcera is a 3rd-year Multimedia Arts student from National University in Laguna with interests in various artistic mediums, including traditional and digital illustration, music production, animation, and game development. Born and raised in Calamba City, Laguna, his fascination with old churches and their architecture led to his beep™ card design featuring the oldest Roman Catholic church in the city.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
“Simbang Gabi” features a stylized render of the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist in Calamba City at nighttime, with the church’s facade illuminated by stars in the sky above and star-shaped lanterns (aka parol) below. As a native of Calamba, Gavin chose the Calamba Church as a symbolic and personal representation of Christmas, highlighting the classic Filipino tradition of “Simbang Gabi”, a deeply-ingrained part of the Filipino Christmas culture.

“Paskuhan Village” by CHRISTIAN HERNANDEZ
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Christian Hernandez is a Philippines-based visual artist, illustrator, and muralist whose work is driven by surreal storytelling, blending whimsy, symbolism, and imagination into immersive visual narratives. Drawing inspiration from 1960s and 1970s rock and roll, psychedelic juxtaposition, and contemporary culture, his practice explores themes of spirituality, faith, the environment, society, and the ever-evolving experiences that shape everyday life.
Working across murals, illustration, and canvas painting, Christian creates dreamlike worlds that balance vibrant color palettes. His distinctive visual language combines layered symbolism and playful imagery, inviting viewers to engage with themes of wonder, reflection, and discovery.
Over the years, Christian has collaborated with a diverse range of local and international brands, institutions, and organizations, producing site-specific murals, commercial illustrations, and commissioned artworks. His work has been recognized through multiple international awards and competitions, reflecting a practice that seamlessly bridges public art, commercial collaboration, and personal artistic exploration.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
“Paskuhan Village” captures the spirit of Filipino Christmas celebrations as the “-ber” months begin. The streets come alive with beloved traditions, from vendors selling puto bumbong to dazzling parol displays and the observance of Simbang Gabi. The artwork celebrates the vibrancy and richness of these traditions.
As an artist, Christian hopes that as the Philippines continues to grow and embrace the digital era, these cherished customs will endure. They reflect our cultural identity and the wonder of being Filipino.
