26 November 2025 – The Benilde Student Government (BeSG) and the Benildean Parents In Action (BePIA) jointly hosted a two-day beep™ card caravan at the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde grounds in cooperation with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and AF Payments Inc. starting today from 8AM to 5PM.

This initiative seeks to offer eligible applicants, including students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) within the Benildean community with a concessionary (white) beep™ card granting a fifty percent (50%) discount on fares at the light rail network (LRT 1 and 2 and MRT 3), especially students from the Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS). Concessionary beep™ cards will be released to 480 applicants for free, courtesy of BePIA.

Lanie Bumagat, Vice President of BePIA shares, “As a (Benildean) Parent’s organization, we always support worthwhile projects initiated by BeSG. Since ang funds ng BePIA is collected from the tuition fees of Benilde students, gusto naming na maibalik sa kanila at makita nila kung saan napupunta… malaking tulong kase sa kanila yung 50-percent discount…”

Jeus Fajardo, BeSG President, stated that aside from offering affordable transport, the beep™ card caravan is aligned with the environment-friendly initiatives of the Benildean community, as it encourages students to use public transport and reduce carbon emission instead of using cars going to and from school. In addition, Fajardo shares the importance of having the white beep™ card issuance inside the campus, especially for their PWD community, “With SDEAS… we practice inclusivity… ngayong andito na sila (PWDs), mas safe sila. Syempre hindi lang deaf ang meron tayo, may ibang PWDs din (sa Benilde community). Hindi lang para sa students pati na rin sa Associates din natin na PWDs. Syempre kapag nasa labas…hindi maiiwasan yung dami ng tao, yung foot traffic sa mga stations. So at least andito na sila; (they are) safe and secured…yan ang pina-prioritize namin.”

Students from the Benildean community lauded the initiative. Josef, a 2nd year Multimedia Arts student who resides in Bacoor, Cavite and rides the LRT 1 from the PITX – Asia World Station shares that they decided to avail of the beep™ concessionary card as an active commuter, “Kumuha po ako ng beep™ card kase po daily commuter po ako… since may LRT na po sa PITX, ginagamit ko na po yung LRT to get to school. Mas mabilis na po kase (ang byahe) kapag nag-LRT.”
The beep™ card Caravan aims to directly partner and cooperate with schools, agencies, associations, communities, and other institutions to promote and advocate for inclusive mobility and a more efficient and convenient commuting experience. Furthermore, this initiative complements the on going card issuance activities at the three light rail stations in Metro Manila (i.e., LRT Lines 1 & 2 and MRT 3) which is open from Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM and from 7AM to 7PM during weekends.
